A Japanese photographer, Kenro Izu studied at Nippon University in Tokyo, then settled in New York where he opened a studio. In 1979 he began those photographic journeys, which could be defined as pilgrimages, to the sacred places of the world. This remains his favorite subject, which he continues to tackle with passion and deep dedication.
The result of slowness and reflection, always in search of details and shades, Izu’s photography is characterized by an almost unlimited range of shades of gray, through which he manages to capture the spiritual essence of the subject, revealing its complex beauty.
